   Frequently Asked Questions

   Uboxes Moving Kits

Why is box strength important?

Corrugated boxes come in all shapes, strengths, and sizes; the stronger the box, the greater the protection for its contents. The moving industry is very competitive, but professional movers use moving boxes that are at least 32 Edge Crush Test (ECT). These ratings are standard from the box industry.

How do I know how strong my box is?

All boxes have a certificate seal printed on the bottom flap by the manufacturer, certifying the box strength. Industry standard moving boxes are 32 ECT for standard small, medium and large moving boxes.  Specialty moving boxes like kitchen and wardrobe are typically 40-44 ECT to provide added strength and protection. Additionally, on the certificate you will find a capacity in weight that the box is designed to handle.

Are the boxes brand new?

YES! The boxes are brand new, unprinted boxes direct from the largest box manufacturers in the United States.

Are the boxes considered “high quality?”

YES! Boxes offered by Uboxes are move-quality, with a 32 ECT rating for standard sizes and 40-44 ECT for specialty sizes.

How does Uboxes choose the box sizes?

For moving supplies and box supplies, Uboxes has taken the most popular sizes – as chosen by almost a million customers – and used those as benchmarks to create these kits.

Can the TV moving box be used for shipping TVs?

No. This 44 ECT rated moving box was not tested by the UPS Package Lab, and NOT approved for shipping. It should strictly be used for moving only.

Will the kits be identifiable on the outer carton?

Yes. The product name (e.g., Small job) will be referenced on the UPS shipping label.

How can Uboxes ship their boxes for free to the 48 contiguous states?

Although shipping is expensive, Uboxes keeps their costs low by shipping from warehouse locations in Kansas and Florida. This shortens delivery time, allowing boxes to arrive in better condition.

The UPS Store Headquarters (HQ) is working to develop a similar program specific to Hawaii and Alaska.

Does Uboxes ship to P.O. Box, APO/FPO addresses?

No. PO Boxes/APO/FPO addresses are NOT accepted. Should you provide Uboxes with a PO/APO/FPO address for shipping, you will incur an intercept address correction fee by the carrier.

Will customers be able to see the origin of product?

No. Uboxes kits will not include a packing slip, nor will the shipping label indicate the kit was shipped from them. The UPS Store will remain the point of contact for the customer.

What are the most effective marketing tools to promote these products?

There are several marketing tools available on the MHC that provides customers detailed features and benefits of the kits – sales brochures, counter card, and a flyer/sticker for each kit. Use the sales brochure when prospecting for new customers that appear to be moving and display a kit in-center and affix a flyer/sticker to help create dialog with your walk-in customers.
